Please find here a few of my favourite places to eat, drink and be merry!
Pubs / Cafe’s / Takeaway’s
The Red Lion, Hollington
A five-minute stroll down the lane. Turn right out of the drive and keep going. A friendly village pub serving home cooked food and a decent pint.
Dog friendly too. Specialises in pies; look out for ‘Pie Night’!
Max’s Bistrot, Tutbury
A fabulous bistro that is open weekdays for breakfasts, brunches and lunches, plus dinner on a Friday. Robin Hunter (an award winning chef) and his wife Terri used to run The Saracen’s Head in our next village, but have decided to have a bit more family time and now run this lovely bistro during the week. Well worth a visit, a fifteen minute drive from here. Booking essential!
The Horseshoes, Long Lane
5 miles away, another award-winning pub that specialise in ‘relaxed fine dining’; a place to celebrate a special occasion.
The Horseshoes is one of five gastropubs within the group; all aimed at revitalising neglected pubs into quality dining, welcoming establishments.
Wild Hive at Callow Hall
If you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, then Callow Hall is the ideal venue! A ten minute drive from here.
Preston’s Speciality Coffee and Wine Bar
Just as you drive into Ashbourne, by the garage on your left. Amazing coffee, brownies, light lunches and cocktails, open all day and into the evening. Pop in for a Puppaccino for your canine friend too!

You haven’t seen a grazing plate until you’ve seen these grazing plates – they’re a thing of beauty! There are a range of delicious platters including charcuterie platters, sweets platters and loads more; well worth a look.
Sunar Gow, Indian Restaurant
You can eat at the restaurant on Uttoxeter Road or order online via their website for delivery to you at Hall Farm. A great selection of well loved dishes to choose from.

Feel Good Pamper Co
“We specialise in providing therapists for group events whether it’s a Hen Party, Baby Shower, Birthday Treat, leaving party, or a general gathering of friends or family. We can supply one therapist or as many as you need. You tell us how many guests and ideally their treatment choice and we take care of the rest.”
Wild Park
Wild Park offers an ‘epic day out’ with a huge range of outdoor activities including paintballing, quad biking, trekking, laser tag, clay shooting, pistol shooting and archery. The ideal day out for lovers of adventure.
Emma Bridgewater
Fun day out for all of the family. You can book a tour of the factory and see the talented craftspeople in action, making the famous pottery we know and love. Find out how each piece is made and in addition you can book a tour with afternoon tea to make an afternoon of your visit.
Alton Towers Theme Park
A 25 minute drive from here, Alton Towers is widely thought of as the best theme park in the UK. With loads of rollercoasters and plenty of gentler rides for younger children and those with a weaker stomach, you can easily spend a few days enjoying all there is to offer.
Chatsworth
Known as the “Palace of the Peak” – a must see during your stay for all ages. You can visit the house and see the stunning architecture, interiors and artwork as well as the gardens, the farmyard and the adventure playground, as well as the on site shop and restaurant.
